Who brings accusations against you or I? It’s the devil who accuses us of sin. Remember God wants to have a relationship with us.
11 Things to Fast-track your relationship with God.
His whole goal is to walk and talk with us just as He did with Adam in the cool of the day.
Therefore, accusations don’t come from Him. Think of your own children. Would you want to accuse them of things to keep you apart from one another? No!
Yet as we will see today, there is someone who wants nothing more than to get you on a technicality. But there’s good news to all of us.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever and His blood bought us back from the wages of sin. Now death and hell have no sting to those who are in Christ Jesus!
Judgement Disclaimer
We started last week talking about judgement. We talked about judging ourselves, but there is a lot to talk about when we discuss judgement & God’s Legal System.
IMPORTANT FAITH NOTE: Remember sin consciousness has no place in a believer’s life of faith. The minute God asks you to do something for Him; you’ll be so guilt ridden that you can’t operate for God when sin consciousness operates in your life.
So many people are concerned about judgement day because they feel guilt and condemnation now. If you’re born again, that’s your own recreated human spirit telling you to change something in your life!
The truth is that there are very important things to know about judgement day and about God and how his legal system works if we want to operate effectively for Him in the earth.
That is what this series is all about. As for sin conscious condemnation, that IS NOT what this series is about. We aren’t talking about your sin or trying to make you feel bad – quite the opposite!
Romans 8:1 KJV tells us…
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 8:1 KJV
God’s Legal Systems
We have discussed in the past that God is a legal God. The world we live in is ordered by laws. We know them by names like “Einstein’s Theory of Relativity” or “Newton’s Laws of Thermodynamics”, but make no mistake that these laws are authored by God.
Our civilization is ordered by laws. These might be categorized into historical documents like the Constitution or Bill or Rights. These documents outline laws and principles to live by.
Just like the natural world is ordered by laws, so the spiritual world is also ordered by laws just as real as gravity or the US Constitution. These laws are outlined in – you guessed it – the Bible.
God the Judge
God – the creator of the laws – is also responsible for enforcing the laws.
He’s a just God meaning that he judges you based upon what you do know and not by what you don’t know. (Thank God because there’s a lot I don’t know…)
The point is that we get to operate on this earth and live our lives ruled by natural, civil and spiritual laws every day, but I think we don’t often think about God as the judge.
God has a courtroom in heaven. He has an audience of people (angels & people like you and me). He also has a defendant (you / me). We get to plead our case before God.
Satan the Prosecutor
Just like any case though we also have a prosecutor – satan.
Let’s look at our verse for today.
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Revelation 12:10 KJV
This verse is talking about satan. Remember Job? Satan came before God to accuse him.
Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord.
Job 2:1 KJV
Satan came to talk with God and plead his case against Job.
Our text goes on to say that satan does this “day and night”.
He’s like that little school kid who runs up the teacher and points at the other kids and starts tattling on what they did. (Because of Jesus he has just about that much power too).
Jesus our High Priest
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Colossians 2:15 KJV
This is what’s so cool about what Jesus did. He WON. The prosecution lost. End of story.
Jesus stands in the gap for each of us and continually makes intercession for us.
But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7:24-25 KJV
Jesus makes intercession for us all the time. So even as the accuser of our brethren – satan – accuses us the blood of Jesus continuously sits before the throne of God reminding Him and all of heaven of Christ’s victory over satan.
Moreover, it speaks of how God doesn’t have to punish us because He already punished Jesus in our place. So judgement is fulfilled as long as we accept the gift of salvation.
Salvation by Faith
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:9-10 KJV
It really is that easy.
