The World’s System and how to Overcome It

by | Mar 31, 2022 | Blog, Faith, Fresh Bread Devotionals

Today we are finishing up with the final enemy to our Christian walk – The World’s System. Any problem that you face today can be broken up into one of the following categories…

  • Devil
  • Flesh
  • The World’s System

When you read this post today, ask yourself, “How am I allowing the love of the world’s system to creep into my life?”

It doesn’t happen all at one time.  Just take this post as an opportunity to reconsider where you are in your life and what you’ve allowed yourself to place high priority on.

We often start out with good intentions, but end up drifting.

This is a great opportunity to identify the drift and stop it in its tracks.

Enemies Recapped

  1. The Devil – is overcome by quoting the Word of God
  2. The Flesh – is overcome by walking after the Spirit.

Enemy #3: The World

The World is the final enemy that we have in this life.  Remember because of the fall, this world was under the control of the devil.

The devil has a system.  We in christian circles will simply call it “the world’s system”.  It’s how things operate in the earth.

Buying, selling, trading, working, etc. etc.

Some people might call it the “rat race”.

If we aren’t careful we can all get sucked into this power hungry grab for things.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Matthew 6:24 KJV

Jesus warns us in Matthew that we cannot serve two masters. He says that we’ll end up loving one and not the other.

Now at first you might say “but I love Jesus”.  Remember these two verse though…

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him

John 14:21 KJV

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:21 NIV

True love of God means that we treasure him above all things.

The Lie: If I follow God 100% my needs won’t be met

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Matthew 6:26 KJV

Jesus is addressing in this sermon on the mount what I’m sure many of his disciples were thinking.

How in the world are we going to get our needs met?

Maybe this has been your thought.

If I follow God, am I going to be able to feed my family?

So often we get all consumed with providing for our families that when God tells us to do something for Him we give him our laundry list of reasons why it’s impossible.

These men quit fishing and toiling and working in the traditional sense because Jesus told them to follow Him.

Instead of saying, “but Jesus don’t you know this is how we feed our families.  I have ____ who’s relying on me…” they said, “Here am I Lord.”

And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Matthew 8:20 KJV

Jesus didn’t allow what looked like a bad situation to stop him from going and doing what God told Him to do.

The Solution: FAITH

This kind of faith isn’t simply the belief that everything is going to work out in the end.  That isn’t really faith at all but simply a hope that we are calling “faith”.

Biblical faith is having the Word of God down in our hearts and then speaking that word into the situation in our life.

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

1 John 5:4 KJV

3 of 3 Enemies to our Faith Walk

That’s it.  There are the three enemies to our faith walk.  Ok so we know what the enemies are, but what are you going to do about them.

Hopefully throughout this process you’ve identified one or two really big problems in your life right now.  Throughout these blog posts you’ve traced the enemy down and identified what it is that is ultimately causing the problem.

Now it’s time to act!

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Matthew 11:12 KJV

It’s time to identify, commit yourself and adjust your lifestyle to ACT.

Don’t allow the enemy to steal your happines, peace and joy from your home.  Put a stop to the enemy’s attempts at victory.

Jesus gave you the keys to life, but you have to go DO something about those things that are trying to rob you.

If you simply allow the devil or the flesh or the world to prioritize themselves above your spirit then you’ll experience the law of sin and death more than you do the law of life in Christ Jesus.

Don’t allow these enemies any place in your life today.

As always if you’ve enjoyed this post, consider sharing it with a friend.  Chances are if you liked it they will too!

We want to proclaim the name of Jesus.  That is our goal.  This is just one of the many avenues we are doing just that.
