Each one of us is called by God to speak the Word of God over our situations. Whether we realize it or not, this is enacting a spiritual principle. Think about the natural. When we put something in our mouth and swallow, it enters our stomach and begins to decompose and churn until we receive power from it. That power gives us the ability to go do things in the natural. If we don’t eat in the natural, then we won’t be able to go do things and work.
The same thing happens with our spirit.
Our Spirits have to Eat
2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.
Ezekiel 3:2-3 KJV
In the verses above, Ezekiel is talking about a vision that he had of the Lord’s throne and word that he wrote on a scroll. The Lord had him eat the scroll. The belly and bowels of a man spoken about here are an image of the spiritual heart that we each have.
Our spirits need to be fed the Word of God.
The Word – Jesus – is our Food
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
John 6:35 KJV
Remember when Jesus said to eat of his flesh and drink of his blood and all his followers freaked out and left? Well Jesus wasn’t talking about his physical body. Jesus was, is and forever will be the Word of God. He is the scroll which Ezekiel was asked to eat.
We eat of the Word when we keep it in our mouths.
How your Spirit Eats
SPEAK THE WORD.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Joshua 1:8 KJV
When we feed our spirits THE WORD when we don’t need it, our spirits will feed us THE WORD when we do need it.
Faith comes by HEARING the word. There is something about actively using your own mouth to speak the Word of God that causes it to deposit itself down in our hearts.
Using the Word
We know that we have passed from death to life because of the change in our hearts. The same is true when it comes to the Word you’re filling yourself with. You know by the things coming from your mouth what you’ve been filling yourself with.
If you’re speaking about problems and issues, then those are the things your mind has been focusing on.
Use the Word of God and your voice to force yourself to think in line with what the Bible says about your situation.
