Step 2: A Quality Decision | What will YOU do with your salvation?

by | Jul 21, 2021 | Blog, Faith, Fresh Bread Devotionals

What is a quality decision?  That’s a decision of no return.  Today we are talking about what step 2 is in entering into a relationship with Christ and entering into the promise land.

It starts by turning aside to hear from God, and if you missed it, you can catch up by checking out Step 1: Turn Aside and Meet God.

A quality decision is one of no return.

Maybe you just became a christian or you’ve been born again for what seems like your whole life, the truth is that making Jesus your LORD requires a quality decision.  You’ll never live a life filled with prosperity and joy on THIS earth or in heaven without losing your life.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Matthew 16:25 KJV

Jesus isn’t interested in being just your fire escape from hell.  He wants to be your Lord.  That’s kind of lost on us today.  We don’t have “lords” anymore.

Put plainly, Jesus wants to dictate how you live your life.  He promises that His way is better than yours and … it is!

Christ gave us freedom, but we have a choice.

When you accepted Jesus as your saviour and Lord you gained access to everything that He can provide: righteousness, peace, joy, and so much more, but it all comes by FAITH.  We have to choose to stand fast in the liberty that Christ gave us.

That’s what our verse for today is all about.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Galatians 5:1 KJV

Paul is saying that we need to make sure that we don’t play around with the things of our old life.  It obviously wasn’t good for us!  Yet sometimes we want to live for God in every area of our lives but…*this one*.

We all have one!

John says…

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1 John 1:8 KJV

Now you might say that’s harsh, but it’s true!

Don’t worry though this isn’t to put you in bondage.  The point is that we all have areas of our lives where we aren’t ready to make Jesus 100% Lord of them.

That is part of our job here on the earth as we walk by faith and not by sight.

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Hebrews 12:1-3 NIV

Make a quality decision to turn your eyes upon Jesus

What did verse 2 of Hebrews 12:2 just say?  “Fixing our eyes on Jesus…”  That’s the solution to a quality decision.  It can’t be about us.

IN ANY AREA.

The temptation is to say, “Oh this matters but this other thing doesn’t really matter.”

That’s a slippery slope my friend and no one slides upwards.

If we are to press on to the upward high calling, we can’t be slipping at all.

It all starts by turning our attention to Jesus and Jesus alone.

Where you’re established is where you’ll revert to.

6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Colossians 2:6-7 KJV

These verses give us the formula.  It’s time that we…

  1. Get taught the Word of God
  2. Rooted in the faith
  3. Abound in thanksgiving

If we aren’t very thankful for our salvation and the things God has given us, we probably aren’t very established in HIM.

What will you do with YOUR salvation?

I ask you today, “What will you do with YOUR salvation?”

Is your life yours or HIS?

Do you want to live it for riches or fame?  Or do you want to seek after HIS name?

It really is up to you.  As we will see in future posts, the difference between roaming the wilderness (this earth) miserable as a christian until you die or living a victorious life in all that God has for you comes down to this one thing.

You have to make a quality decision – I won’t go where I’ve been.
