Before you can start to build your relationship with Jesus you need some foundational principles. This page will give you a list of CORE beliefs based upon what the Word of God says.

Definition

THE WORD

Synonyms: The Word of God, The Bible, The Scriptures, Jesus

  1. Is the written love letter of God to mankind. People from across generations under the anointing of the Holy Spirit wrote multiple books, letters, and psalms. They all point to Jesus the Word made flesh. It was written as God’s love letter for mankind telling him how to return back to a relationship with Him.
  2. Is another name for Jesus Himself. Everything within the Bible points to Jesus aka the Word. John 1:14 explicitly states, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…” The Word and Jesus are synonymous. Jesus and the Word are inseparable and are the same because Jesus is the Word made flesh.
  3. Is the Gospel Message. We’ve each been commissioned to GO into all the world and preach the Word. This Word is the Good News that though we are separated from Christ from birth because Jesus gave Himself as a substitute for our sins we can now have a relationship with Him. Jesus took our punishment so we can now stand face to face with Him.  We can have a real relationship with Jesus when we call on the name of the Lord saying, “Jesus come into my heart. I repent from my sins.”

THE WORD IS...

TRUE

There is no other source of total and complete honest truth. Jesus called Himself the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). No one will find a successful, satisfied life apart from Jesus and the Word.

OUR ULTIMATE GUIDE

Because the Word of God is completely true, we can holdfast everything the Word tells us we have regardless of the circumstances or what we feel or see.

FOR TRAINING PURPOSES

All scriptures were given to us to teach us something. The Word of God is alive and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). This means when we use the Word of God to train people (and ourselves) we separate our own wants and desires from the Truth and get the results Jesus wants.

A CHAIN BREAKER

People are chained up around the world in bondages searching for truth. They’re looking for a permanent solution to a persistent problem- internal emptiness. The Word breaks the chains of fear and solves this internal emptiness by filling people with a TRUE solution.

A HEALER

Sickness is a result of our separation from God. As the Word brings a person into contact with Jesus the power of Christ will heal the brokenness of spirit, soul, and body. Mental illness, physical illness, and emotional damage all heal under the power of the Word and Holy Spirit power.

THE INSPIRED WORD OF GOD

A revelation from God to man, the living, infallible, and everlasting rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason.

Hebrew 4:12 NLT

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

THE TRIUNE GODHEAD IS COMPRISED OF THREE SEPARATE AND DISTINCT PERSONALITIES

The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, who are eternally self-existent, self-revealed and function as one entity. Jesus Christ, who is God manifest in the flesh, is the second member of the Godhead, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Holy Spirit

John 1:10-14 NLT

10 He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. 11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

OUR NEED FOR A SAVIOR JESUS

MAN, HIS TREASON, AND REDEMPTION

Man was created good and upright, for God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness.” But man, by voluntary transgression, fell, and his only hope of redemption was in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Romans 5:18-19 NLT

18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. 19 Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.

MAN’S ONLY HOPE OF REDEMPTION WAS THROUGH THE SHED BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST

On the cross Jesus Christ became sin and sickness providing both salvation and divine healing for all mankind (Psalm 103:3), being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Romans 10:9-10 NLT

9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

THE EVIDENCE OF SALVATION

The inward evidence to the believer of his salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit (Romans 8:16; 1 John 3:18-19, 24). The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness.

INWARD WITNESS

Romans 8:16 NLT

16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.

OUTWARD WITNESS

Matthew 7:16-17 NLT

16 You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit.

THE LORD’S SUPPER

We believe that communion is a way of remembrance for what our Savior Jesus Christ has done and provided for us.

1 Corinthians 11:24-25, 28 NLT

“And when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, ‘This is my body which is broken for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup”

SALVATION BY FAITH VS GOOD WORKS

Every man is saved through faith in Jesus Christ and His completed work at the cross alone.  Any good works we do as Christians comes as a natural outward expression of an inward heart change.

GOOD WORKS

A natural expression of someone who’s given their life to Jesus is an outwork of salvation that results in good works. We don’t do good works to earn our salvation, but they come as a natural expression of who we are in Christ.

SALVATION BY FAITH

Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ and not by human works. Our salvation comes from faith in Christ alone.

WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?

The third person of the triune Godhead, the Holy Spirit is the power we were told to wait for by Jesus in Luke 24:47-49.  He is the Helper, Comforter, Strengthener, and Standby.  He gives us boldness to witness and reveals the Scriptures to us making us better witnesses for Christ.

THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER – THE HOLY SPIRIT

All believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. With it comes the endowment of power for life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their use in the work of the ministry. This wonderful experience is distinct from and after the experience of the new birth.

Luke 24:49 NLT

49 “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”

Acts 1:4-5 NLT

4 Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. 5 John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

THE EVIDENCE OF THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

The full consummation of the baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is evidenced by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and by the subsequent manifestation of spiritual power in public testimony and service.

Acts 2:4 NLT

4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

How is being Baptized in Water Different from being Baptized with the Holy Spirit?

Water baptism is a sign of true repentance and offers you a place to publicly declare that Jesus is your Lord for all to see. The Holy Spirit baptism is an infilling of the power of the Holy Spirit to enable you as a Christian to be a better witness for Christ to others.

BAPTIZED IN WATER

The ordinance of baptism by a burial with Christ should be observed as commanded in the Scriptures by all who have truly repented and in their hearts have truly believed on Christ as Savior and Lord. In so doing, they declare to the world that they have died with Jesus and that they have also been raised with Him to walk in newness of life.

Acts 10:47-48 NLT

47 “Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?” 48 So he gave orders for them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Afterward Cornelius asked him to stay with them for several days.

3 John 2 NLT

2 Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.

MENTAL PROSPERITY

2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

PHYSICAL PROSPERITY

Isaiah 53:4 NLT

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!

FINANCIAL PROSPERITY

Luke 6:38 NLT

38 Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.

SOCIAL PROSPERITY

Proverbs 3:4 NLT

4 Then you will find favor with both God and people,
and you will earn a good reputation.

WHAT IS COMING FOR US IN THE FUTURE?

THE RETURN OF CHRIST

Jesus is coming again to gather all His Saints to ever be with Him.

1 Corinthians 15:51-52 NLT

51 But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! 52 It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.

THE MILLENIAL REIGN OF CHRIST

The Scriptures promise the return of our Lord Jesus Christ with His saints from Heaven to rule and reign for one thousand years on earth (2 Thessalonians 1:7; revelation 19:11-16; 20:1-6). After this, there shall be a new heaven and a new earth.

Revelations 21:1-4 NLT

1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

3 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

THE LAKE OF FIRE

Those who have not accepted the redemptive work of Jesus Christ will suffer eternal separation from the Godhead. The devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, and anyone whose name is not found written in the Book of Life shall be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

Revelations 21:8 NLT

8 “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
