Do Social Standings Affect God’s Judgement?

by | Feb 1, 2022 | Blog, Fresh Bread Devotionals, Judgement

Judgement from sin isn’t about social standings or status.

The Bible tells time and time again that the Lord doesn’t care who you are or what you have. All are able to access Him through Jesus.

This is revelation to some!

God truly wants everyone. He has not prejudged you in fact he has pre-forgiven you!

What do I mean? God came as Jesus to this earth and sacrificed himself so that you and I might find forgiveness for our sins not condemnation.

The problem is that we still have to accept this redemption (and forgiveness). He did it and it’s waiting on us to receive it.

Peter didn’t quite understand this until God showed him in Acts 10:34-35.

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Acts 10:34-35 KJV

All who believe and receive Jesus can find redemption from judgement.

Redemption Regardless of Social Standing

I’m blessed to live in America where we have freedom of speech and – for all the cries of social injustice – we have it pretty amazing.

Some nations have no social freedom. They’re feel locked in bondage to poverty, family blood lines or even “generational curses”.

The Bible tells us that when we become a Christian we become part of the FAMILY of God. This is good news because God doesn’t have a generational curse only blessing!

God doesn’t operate in the social rankings of the world. He doesn’t look at your or I and judge our sin based on our class or education or family.

In fact, Jesus himself in John 13:8 said to Peter that “…It I wash thee (his feet) not, thou hast no part with me.”

Jesus is saying that humility and a servants heart is a requirement to be in the family of God. That means he’s not going to turn around and judge you for the very thing he’s telling you not to pay attention to.

Freedom from Condemnation

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit

Romans 8:1 KJV

The Bible is clear that though there is judgment for sin when we have accepted the gift of salvation Jesus Christ bears the condemnation and separation from the lord.

The Lord is not condemning us in sin but instead places all the consequences of our sin on Jesus.

There is no reason to live in fear of judgment anymore.

The real statement is that social standings don’t affect God’s judgement.

Judgement series

This post is part of an ongoing series we are doing studying what the Bible says about Judgement. When I started it I did not realize how much the Bible really says about judgement. We fear judgement many times because we don’t understand who we are in Christ.

Check out more of our sermon series here.
