Are you an Instrument to be Used?

by | Aug 16, 2022 | Blog, Fresh Bread Devotionals, Witnessing, Worship

Your body is a weapon.  Army generals and MMA fighters have proved that.  In certain states, your hands and feet and other parts of your body can even be considered a weapon by the judge.

Our Text

13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Romans 6:13 KJV

Defining the word “instruments”

  1. Greek = Hoplon (Gr 3696) – a tool, implement, weapon, instrument
  2. Instrument (Oxford Languages) – a tool or implement
    1. a person who is exploited or made use of.
    2. a thing used in pursuing an aim or policy; a means.

The word instrument as we see above has two separate but related meanings.

INSTRUMENT – “A person who is exploited or made use of.”

If you yield your body to be an instrument of unrighteousness unto sin, the result is this definition here.  You will be exploited by sin.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Romans 6:13 KJV

There is pleasure in sin for a season, but eventually everyone realizes the same thing – it’s bondage.

That cigarette starts to bankrupt you at $10/pack.  Your drugs start to fade and require more and more.  The pleasure you had in sex turns rotten all because of the fact you reap corruption.

The man who is NOT born again doesn’t know better.  He’s lost and needs Jesus to unblindfold his eyes. That man doesn’t know better.  He’s simply trying to fill the void that Jesus fills for everyone.

The other man who IS born again knows better.  He is doing what Galatians 5:1 warns against.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Galatians 5:1 KJV

There’s hope for both men!

For the man who isn’t born again – He needs to believe in his heart and confess with His mouth Jesus is Lord.

That might be you reading this post.  The Bible says that with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  It really is that simple!

So here’s what I would encourage you to do.  CONFESS JESUS IS LORD.

I wrote a few sentences to help you.

Jesus I confess that you are Lord.  I believe in my heart that you came to earth for me.  I know that you love me, and I repent for my sins right now. Come into my life and heal me. In Jesus Name, Amen

Salvation Prayer
For the man who is born again, but isn’t living right, there is also hope!  The problem is just different!

If that’s you, then you aren’t blind you’ve just been a bit rebellious.  You’ve entangled yourself in the yoke of bondage.  You need a fresh touch of the Holy Spirit. Confess this and receive it.

Jesus I repent for running away.  I turn back to you right now and confess my sin to you.  I repent which means I’m not going back to where I’ve been.  Holy Spirit I receive a fresh infilling now.  Take my life and use it.  I allow your anointing to break this yoke of bondage. In Jesus Name, Amen

Rededication Prayer

INSTRUMENT – “A thing used in pursuing an aim or policy; a means.”

Now here’s the best part!  Regardless of which man you were, now you qualify for this second definition of instrument.

God needs you!

Ever notice that dead people can’t lay hands on someone?  Dead people cannot pray for the sick or witness to someone.  Only you and I – housed in a body – can do that!

God’s Goal: To see ALL PEOPLE born again and receive the free gift of salvation

We were created to accomplish this goal.

God desires that all would be born again and that none would perish without Jesus, but we have a will.

We must choose to yield ourselves to be used by Jesus .

Your Body is the Instrument / Weapon of Jesus Christ

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 6:12 KJV

We fight not with other people, but for other people.

People who aren’t born again are spiritually blind.  The devil has deceived them!  It’s up to us to tell them the good news and allow the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ to take the blindfold off.
