According to YOUR Faith

by | Dec 8, 2020 | Blog, Faith, Fresh Bread Devotionals

According to YOUR Faith, you receive everything from God.  God has done everything well.  Jesus has completed the work on the cross and is sitting at the right hand of God making intercession for us.  But it is up to us to walk and act on what God has already provided.

Last week we talked about How to Water your SeedThe Word of God planted in your heart has to grow with the watering of the Spirit – the rains from heaven. If you haven’t read that post yet, I encourage you to read it.

Our Text

21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Matthew 9:21-22 KJV

Faith is stored in the spirit of a person.

God is a spirit.  God operates in the spiritual realm.  Spiritual things to God are more real than what we call, “physical things”.  The things of God are spiritual not flesh or soul (mind, will or emotions), but spiritual.

The women with the issue of blood described in Matthew 9 tells us that she “said within herself”.

Remember Mark 11:23-24?

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Mark 11:23-24 KJV

The faith comes from the heart and not their head.

It is your Faith that Moves/Does the Impossible.

We already talked about the women with the issue of blood doing this in Matthew 9:22 when Jesus said, “THY faith hath made thee whole.”  Jesus didn’t say, “MY faith..”.  He said “THY”.  That is important.

Again later down in the chapter when Jesus heals the blind man he says.

29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

Matthew 9:29 KJV

According “to your faith”.

God is willing to heal you, but you have to access it by your faith in Him.  God says in Mark 11:23, “…whosoever shall say unto this mountain…”  NOT “…whosoever shall pray and ask God to handle the mountain for them….”

Often time instead of believing that God has already healed us because of what verses like 1 Peter 2:24 say.  We try to beg God to fix our problems instead of standing on what the Word says.

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

1 Peter 2:24 KJV

It’s not about getting “MORE Faith”.  It’s about using what you have.

People confuse “belief” and “faith”.  Now hear me out.  You might be asking yourself, “Isn’t ‘believing in’ and ‘having faith in’ the same thing?”  The answer is yes technically it is, but it’s what we are thinking when we use these words that makes it confusing to Christians trying to walk in faith.

Belief

An acceptance that something is true or something exists.

Think about how we use this word.  Many times in the English language we will use belief like “well looking at all the facts presented here today…. I believe you are innocent.”

We use the word belief often times when talking about things we base in physical facts.  It’s based in logic and in reason.

Faith reaches past logic and reasoning in the mental realm.  See if I was trying to operate in this kind of “belief” I wouldn’t have any! This is where people say, “Well I just need more faith…”

The fact is I cannot reason my way into believing what God’s Word says is true.  And if I think faith in God comes from my mind, then I will always think I’m doubting.

True faith (Biblical faith or belief) comes from the heart.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:10 KJV

The word believeth here is talking about moving past your thoughts and believing with your heart not your head.

You’re Alive by Jesus’ Faith. You walk by Yours.

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:20 KJV

We are alive today in Christ (born again) as Christians because of the Faith of Jesus.  But the race has to be run by YOU.  Your faith is required.

7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV

Jesus has delegated His authority on this earth to you and me.  We are to be His hands and feet.  We must do what Jesus has done and walk by faith.  He is our example.
